Air passenger duty should be scrapped altogether, says IEA expert

“Air passenger duty is a policy seeking a justification. Although supporters of air passenger duty claim it is a green tax, the duty was never designed for such a purpose and is as such riddled with ineffective irregularities.

"The travel industry has been hit particular hard by the pandemic. Instead of fiddling around the edges and adding further complexity, now is a great time to scrap the duty for good and introduce a proper universal carbon pricing mechanism."
