Marsha de Cordova responds to reports 150,000 people with learning disabilities will be prioritised for vaccines

“It’s a welcome announcement that people with learning disabilities will now be prioritised for the vaccine, but it is frankly unacceptable that despite being one of the most vulnerable groups impacted the Government are still failing to support and protect disabled people sufficiently from the virus.

“Disabled people have been hit hard by the pandemic. They have accounted for six in every 10 Covid related deaths and young adults with a learning disability are 30 times more likely to die of Covid than young adults in the general population.

“This Government needs to up its game and do everything it can to protect those most at risk and ensure that no one is left behind by the vaccine roll out.”
