Lucy Powell comments on news that Rolls-Royce expects a loss of £2bn in 2021

"The UK's aerospace industry is world-leading, supporting many thousands of high-skilled, high-paid jobs across our country.

"It has been bruised during this pandemic with production stopping and starting, air travel plummeting and order books emptying. But while France and Germany have taken steps to support and sustain their aerospace industry, the UK Government has stood idly by.

"It is vital Ministers act to boost aerospace businesses through a green economic recovery, supporting the UK to lead the world in a green revolution for aerospace. If they fail to do so, they risk a body blow to local economies reliant upon these businesses, and more jobs being lost."
