Before COVID-19, millions of people used to travel to various
parts of London for work. In just 1.12 square miles, prior to
COVID-19 restrictions, the City of London had 513,000 daily
commuters and 10 million annual visitors. In April 2020, 57.2% of
Londoners were working from home. 8 months on, working from home
may be becoming the “new normal” - is it permanent and how will
the changing nature of work impact on both businesses and people?
The Economy Committee will
tomorrow look at the impact of people working
from home on London and Londoners, including the city’s
commercial centres. The Committee will also look at how current
commercial and office space could be used and re-purposed to
ensure London remains a thriving economy. The guests are:
