Government is right to recognise that new build nuclear must be part of Net Zero solution, Says Prospect

“The publication of this energy white paper could mark a significant point in the path to Net Zero, if it is followed through with action.

“The government is right to recognise that new build nuclear, starting with Sizewell C, must be part of the solution. The recognition of the role the government could play by taking a direct stake is welcome. We hope that questions about financing can be resolved quickly, as the need for action is now.

“We have also repeatedly raised the need for a just transition for energy workers. This will be vital if the government wants to level up the whole country as we decarbonise.”
