Prime Minister gives assurance to the Falkland Islands on fisheries

During Prime Minister's Questions in the Commons today, Derek
Twigg, Labour MP for Halton, said the Falklands Islands faced the
prospect of fisheries exports to the EU being subject to tariffs of
between 6% and 18% from January 1. Fisheries exports to the EU
accounted for over 40% of the islands' GDP and up to 60% of the
government's revenue. This posed a serious challenge to the
