CFI Vice-President exposes “disturbing” Antisemitic material quoted by Amazon Alexa smart-speaker

CFI Vice-Chairman Andrew Percy MP has today expressed concern about the broadcasting of “disturbing” Antisemitic material by Amazon’s Alexa smart speaker in a letter to Home Secretary Priti Patel.

Andrew Percy MP, in coordination with CFI, has uncovered Antisemitic conspiracy theories and Holocaust denial being broadcast, including the fabricated Elders of Zion hoax and racist claim that “Jews control the world’s financial systems and media”.

The Alexa smart speaker was found to cite a series of external websites to provide answers to the questions as part of its service. For example, when asked whether Israel is a “racist state” the Alexa quotes a non-Amazon website – “Israel is and will remain a racist Jewish state”.

In his letter, Andrew Percy MP urged Home Secretary Priti Patel to contact Amazon and “immediately investigate how these voice services select their material and sources”.
