Government needs an effective national strategy to combat domestic abuse in second lockdown - Jess Phillips

“For victims of domestic abuse, including children, a second lockdown means weeks of being trapped at home with an abuser.

“In the spring, the Government’s response to the huge increase in reports of domestic abuse was too little and too late. The same mistakes cannot be made again - that’s why Labour is urgently convening sector experts to discuss what needs to be done to help.

“The Government must ensure there is an effective, national strategy and that the domestic abuse sector has the support it needs to provide expert life-saving support and refuge for victims.”
