Clear that government has lost control of contract tracing as system fails when it is most needed - Justin Madders

Justin Madders MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, commenting on Test and Trace statistics that show the worst ever performance of the system, said:

“It is now clear that the Government has lost control of contact tracing with the system failing just when we need it most.

“The Government should have fixed test and trace when infections were lower over the summer. The government must act urgently to ensure the country doesn't pay a terrible price over the winter because of this failure.”

Test and trace statistics published today show that just 68.6 per cent of close contacts of people who have tested positive were reached last week and asked to self-isolate, the lowest percentage since the system was introduced back in May.
