Holly Lynch responds to Government plans for reimbursing the immigration health surcharge to health and care staff

Holly Lynch MP, Labour’s Shadow Immigration Minister, responding to Government plans for reimbursing the immigration health surcharge to health and care staff, said:

“These measures represent an outrageous broken promise to health and care workers. It’s unacceptable to put upfront charges on low paid care workers that can amount to thousands of pounds for a family.

“The Government is effectively borrowing money from families without ever saying when they will get it back. This will be impossible for many to pay and shows the Tories have learned nothing from the huge efforts being made by care workers at the frontline of the Covid-19 crisis.”
