Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee: Inquiry into air quality

Evidence Session: Tuesday 8 September 2.30pm

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Select Committee is to hold the first public evidence session of its inquiry into air quality. The session will focus on evidence about air pollution trends, the medical impacts and health inequalities of poor air quality and the possible correlation with COVID-19, the UK Government’s Clean Air Strategy and Environment Bill, and progress on reducing air pollution and Clean Air Zones.

Witnesses to appear are as follows:

Panel one, from 2.30pm:

• Alastair Lewis, Professor of atmospheric chemistry at the University of York and a Science Director at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science
• Eloise Scotford, Professor of Environmental Law at UCL

Panel two, from approx. 3.30pm:

• Anna Hansell, Professor of Environmental Epidemiology and Director of the Centre for Environmental Health and Sustainability at the University of Leicester
• Sir Michael Marmot, Director of the Institute of Health Equity and Professor of Epidemiology at University College London (UCL)
