privileged to be involved with several fishery protection flights
in the Falklands that used radar to excellent
effect. Having identified unlicensed foreign vessels within
territorial waters, our friends in the Royal Navy and Royal Air
Force were then called upon to politely escort them off the
premises. This may yet be a persuasive tactic in the northern
hemisphere, too. Clarity will also be welcome about any new
arrangement for managing British waters beyond the UK—around
Gibraltar, Cyprus and the other overseas territories—and about the
national landing requirement...
