Ruth Jones promoted to replace Lloyd Russell-Moyle in Labour’s Defra team

Ruth Jones has been promoted to Keir Starmer’s frontbench, replacing Lloyd Russell-Moyle as shadow minister for natural environment and air quality in Labour’s environment, food and rural affairs team.

Russell-Moyle was forced to quit the front bench in July over social media posts accusing Israel of fuelling terrorism.
He cited a “campaign by the right-wing media” against him and a “torrent of online hate.”

Ruth Jones was elected MP for Newport West in April 2019 in a by-election caused by the death Paul Flynn.
