Ahead of statistics tomorrow (July 30, 09:30am) which will show
the latest police and teacher figures, the Prime Minister has
hailed the hard work of the public sector during the coronavirus
outbreak and encouraged others to take advantage of the great
opportunities that lie in the public service at the heart of our
schools, hospitals, prisons and police stations.
The Prime Minister will say:
“We have seen more clearly than ever the heroic efforts of our
public workers during this pandemic.
“The fantastic teachers, police officers and NHS workers truly
are the pride of the nation and embody the spirit of public duty
that every one of us can aspire towards.
“Together, we are on a mission to build back better - protect our
NHS, make our streets safer, educate the next generation and
unleash Britain’s potential.”
This call comes alongside announcements from the Ministry of
Justice on hiring 1,000 new probation officers to reduce
reoffending (00:01am) and the Department for Education approving
over 3,000 additional nursing university places to train the next
generation of nurses (00:01am).
Later tomorrow:
- The Department for Education will confirm (09:30am) the
number of trainee teachers who became fully qualified last year.
- The Home Office will update (09:30am) on progress towards
recruiting 20,000 police officers, and the Prime Minister and
Home Secretary will visit a police force tomorrow to meet new
recruits.
