Pensions Ombudsman to appear before Work and Pensions Committee

Pensions Ombudsman Anthony Arter will take questions from MPs as part of the Work and Pensions Committee’s regular scrutiny of public organisations accountable to Parliament. 

The session is likely to look at the priorities and challenges for the Ombudsman over the coming year. A tailored review of the Ombudsman by DWP was published in August and the hearing will be a chance to explore progress implementing the report’s recommendations and how the Pensions Ombudsman is working with other bodies such as the Financial Ombudsman and Money and Pensions Service.

The Pensions Ombudsman’s role is to consider complaints and disputes about personal and occupational pension schemes in the UK. The Committee may also wish to ask about general issues arising from recent rulings made by the Ombudsman, as well as the trends in types of complaints being heard.
