Covid-19 has brought about drastic changes to the world of work – Andy McDonald

Andy McDonald MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Employment Rights and Protections, responding to surveys from Bright Horizons and the London Chamber of Commerce, on changes to working practices during lockdown, said:

“COVID-19 has brought about drastic changes to the world of work. Many workers have enjoyed the benefits of working from home, while for others the pandemic has exacerbated low pay, job insecurity and poor rights and protections at work.

“It is vital that changes to work are made with the agreement of staff, otherwise there is a risk that workers’ pay, terms and conditions will be undermined. There is an opportunity to create a fairer world at work, but only if the Government is prepared to work closely with businesses and worker representatives to increase rights and protections in the workplace.”
