Police officers must be exempt from London congestion charge, says Assembly

The London Assembly has today written to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to urge him to waive the congestion charge for police officers until the threat of COVID-19 is reduced.

Chair of the London Assembly Police & Crime Committee, Unmesh Desai AM, said:

“Police officers have been going above and beyond to help Londoners and their communities in the fight against COVID-19. It’s not right that they have not been exempt from the congestion charge at a time where Londoners are being told to avoid public transport where possible.

“We have written to the Mayor today and asked him to waive the congestion charge for police officers until the threat of COVID-19 is reduced. We hope the Mayor will introduce the exemption with immediate effect. It’s the right thing to do.”
