Labour's Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has called on the UK’s
major banks to halt plans to hike overdraft fees for millions of
people. McDonnell said that banks must shelve the increase that is
due to come into force in a few weeks, in light of the coronavirus
crisis. John McDonnell MP, Labour's Shadow Chancellor, said: “Banks
must put this on hold. This is a real kick in the teeth at this
time when people are being laid off and struggling to get by.”
