The Foreign Affairs Committee is to examine the UK’s
relationship with Iran.
This inquiry will explore the basis of the engagement
between the UK and Iran, what it has comprised, and how
successful it has been in securing the UK’s foreign-policy
objectives.
As well as considering both sides of the bilateral
relationship, the inquiry will also look at the approaches and
priorities that the FCO has pursued in multilateral
diplomacy.
The Committee welcomes written evidence addressing:

Relations between the UK and Iran, and vice versa:
history, evolution, and aims;

Challenges of, and alternatives to, current methods of
addressing bilateral disputes (past and present);
-
The FCO's role in supporting broader ties (commercial or
otherwise);
-
The UK's policies towards Iran's role in the region and
the UK’s broader regional alliances;
-
The FCO's role in multilateral diplomacy regarding Iran,
and the UK's priorities therein;
-
The future of the JCPOA.
Form of written evidence:
Submissions should be no longer than 3,000 words. The main
body of any submission should use numbered paragraphs. Each
submission should contain:

a short summary, perhaps in bullet point
form;

a brief introduction about the person or organisation
submitting evidence, for example explaining their area of
expertise or experience;

any factual information from which the Committee might be
able to draw conclusions, or which could be put to other
witnesses;

any recommendations for action by the Government or
others which the submitter would like the Committee to consider
for inclusion in its report to the House.
Submissions should be in malleable format such as MS Word
(not PDFs) with no use of colour or logos. Guidance on submitting

Deadline for submissions
Written evidence should be submitted through the
Committee’s web
portal by midnight on Thursday 9 April. It is
recommended that all submitters familiarise themselves with
the Guidance on giving
evidence to a Select Committee of the House of
Commons which outlines particulars of word
count, format, document size, and content restrictions.
