Home Office criticised for response to Settled Status Scheme recommendations - Bell Ribeiro-Addy responds

Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, Labour’s Shadow Immigration Minister, responding to criticism of the Home Office’s response to recommendations regarding the EU Settled Status Scheme by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, said: 

“It is unacceptable that government departments have been less then co-operative when the status of millions of EU citizens is at issue.  Unfortunately, this fits with this government’s entire approach to migrants entitled to be here – treating them as if they had no rights, just as they have treated victims of the ongoing Windrush scandal.”

The ICIBI report stated that some Home Office responses to its recommendations were “less positive and constructive than I had hoped” and called for “future reports [to be] published more quickly”.
