Myriam Madden started her roles as Non-Executive Director and
Chair of the Audit Committee at the Office of Gas and Electricity
Markets (Ofgem) on 1
January 2020.
Myriam has held senior executive finance and operational
positions in global technology companies, financial services in
the UK, US and Europe, as well as the public sector. An
experienced Executive Director, Myriam specialised in business
transformation, operational re-structuring and finance in both
the private and public sectors.
Myriam is a chartered management accountant and a Board member of
the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants
(IESBA).
She is also a Board member of Home Group, chairman of their
Scottish subsidiary, a board member of the Traverse Theatre and
chairman of their Audit committee.
Myriam previously served as a non-executive member of the Audit
and Risk Assurance Committee of the Department for Business,
Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
She was also a Board member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants and President of the Chartered
Institute of Management Accountants, both global accounting
bodies.
Ofgem is a
non-ministerial government department and an independent National
Regulatory Authority. Its principal objective when carrying out
its functions is to protect the interests of existing and future
electricity and gas consumers by promoting value for money,
promoting security of supply and sustainability, and monitoring
the development of markets and competition.
Myriam has taken up her role as a Non-Executive Director
(NED) after being
found appointable during the recent NED appointment process. The
announcement of the NED with a digital
transformation background will be made in due course.
