Gambling regulator to give evidence to Lords Gambling Committee

On Tuesday 11 February 2020, the chief executive and chair of the Gambling Commission will be questioned by the House of Lords Select Committee on the Social and Economic Impact of the Gambling Industry in a two-hour evidence session. 

Giving evidence to the Committee at 3.20pm will be:

• Neil McArthur, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission; and
• Dr Bill Moyes, Chair of the Gambling Commission.

Questions are likely to focus on:

• The underlying regulatory approach to gambling;
• The Gambling Commission’s relationship with the gambling industry;
• The financial sanctions imposed on gambling operators for regulatory breaches;
• The Gambling Commission’s ability to regulate constantly evolving technology and ever-changing gambling products;
• The Gambling Commission’s actions to protect children from gambling harms; and
• The Gambling Commission’s decision to establish a working group to address issues about gambling operators’ VIP schemes.
