LGA Survey: £250 million a year lost through business rate avoidance

Business rates avoidance is costing local services an estimated £250 million a year, a new survey by the Local Government Association reveals today.  The poll of local councils responsible for collecting business rates found 8 in 10 say they do not have adequate powers to tackle the problem in their local area.
