Shocking and wholly unacceptable level of care provided by Cygnet – Barbara Keeley

Barbara Keeley MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Social Care, commenting on the CQC’s review of Cygnet Healthcare, said: 

“This report shows the shocking and wholly unacceptable level of care provided by Cygnet at their hospitals, with unacceptable levels of restraint and seclusion and high levels of patient assaults.

“Cygnet should not be receiving NHS funding to deliver services that fall so far below the standard expected.

“Patients who currently use Cygnet’s services and their families will rightly be worried about the care they receive. Matt Hancock must set out an urgent plan to ensure these patients are moved to safer hospitals.”
