, Labour’s Shadow Minister for
Youth Affairs, marking the start of National
Youth Work Week, said:
“Youth workers are the unsung heroes of our communities and
play a vital role supporting young people with their ambitions
for the future.”
“However, after a decade of Tory austerity and relentless
cuts to this important profession, thousands of youth workers
have lost their jobs and youth services have all but
disappeared.
“Labour in government will rebuild our decimated youth
service by investing significantly in youth
work. We will also introduce a new national 'Youth
Service Guarantee', ensuring every young person has
access to high quality youth work in their community regardless
of their background and circumstances.
“This election is a once-in-a-generation chance to
transform our country so that that no one is held back and no
community is left behind.
