McDonnell responds to rise in borrowing

John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, responding to news that borrowing for the year so far has risen for the first time in five years, said: 

"After nine years it's clear the Conservatives' cuts agenda has failed in every way.

"Their economic mismanagement has had real and dangerous consequences for our hard-pressed public services.

"Labour will deliver the funding our schools and hospitals need, underpinned by a high-wage, high-skill economy."
