Working for better roads: Warm Mix Asphalt report from the Highways APPG

Please find attached a copy of a report from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Highways, published today (Tuesday, September 03 2019).

‘Working for better roads’  highlights how the use of Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) can reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiencies on highways projects.

Using WMA in road maintenance and construction can help to: 

• Reduce CO₂ emissions associated with asphalt production by around 15%
• Improve productivity as it takes less time to cool to trafficking temperatures so more can be laid in a single shift
• Reduce public disruption through earlier re-opening to traffic
• Improve conditions for the workforce
