BEIS support for Cuadrilla fracking - Greenpeace response

In response to BEIS issuing a statement of support for Cuadrilla resuming fracking at Preston New Road, Rosie Rogers, Head of Climate at Greenpeace UK, said -

"In a Climate Emergency it's shocking that the Government is wasting any time thinking about fracking. The industry has made huge financial losses in the US, whilst massively adding to their greenhouse gas emissions, and is banned in France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

"It beggars belief that the department in charge of business and energy are supporting a failing business that has produced zero energy, when there is a booming renewables industry which really does create jobs and growth, and really does cut emissions. Fracking is our first post-truth industry, where there is no product, no profit, and real no prospect of either. It's time the government admitted that they backed the wrong horse, and started backing the right one."
