Today visiting the world-leading offshore wind site, the Green Port
in Hull, the Leader of the Liberal Democrats will call for 80 per cent of UK power generation to
come from renewables by 2030.
The announcement, part of the Liberal Democrat programme to
stop the climate emergency, will help to rapidly reduce greenhouse
gas emissions as the party targets a 75% fall by 2030.
Speaking ahead of a visit to the Green Port in Hull,
Liberal Democrat Leader said:
"People are rightly angry that the Conservative Government is
not taking the climate emergency seriously enough and are currently
falling behind on their own targets.
“Hull Green Port is a world leader in renewable energy and we
will need more ambitious projects like it to achieve 80 per cent of
UK power generation to come from renewables by 2030.
“The Liberal Democrats demand immediate action to tackle the
climate emergency and will fight for a cleaner, greener, more
prosperous future.”
