Home Affairs Committee to take evidence on the detention of victims of modern slavery and human trafficking

As part of its inquiry into modern slavery, the Home Affairs Committee is taking evidence on the detention of victims of slavery and trafficking in immigration detention facilities.

The Committee will hear from two organisations that work with and support victims in detention and from a solicitor who has handled many of these cases.

The session is likely to cover:

• ·         The extent and appropriateness of detention of potential victims;
• ·         Reasons for the detention of victims of slavery and trafficking;
• ·         Consequences of detention for the individuals;
• ·         The adequacy of Government policies on detention of vulnerable individuals.
