- On
Wednesday, the BEIS Committee will also publish (under
embargo) the written evidence submissions for
the financing energy infrastructure inquiry.
On Wednesday from 9.45am, the Business, Energy and
Industrial Strategy Committee will question the
National Infrastructure Commission, the Committee on Climate
Change and the CBI during the first evidence session of
the inquiry into financing
energy infrastructure.
The inquiry is examining the outlook for investment in energy
infrastructure in the UK and what the Government needs to do to
encourage the investment needed to deliver a low carbon,
cost-effective and secure long-term energy supply. It is also
examining how nuclear power may be financed in the future and how
the Government might attract greater investment in renewable
forms of energy.
The session will explore the UK’s future needs for energy
infrastructure and the policies required for delivery. It will
also examine the critical decisions that need to be taken by the
Government to guide investment, the implications of adopting a
net zero emissions target, and the extent and effectiveness of
cross-Government coordination on infrastructure delivery.
Publication of written evidence for the financing energy
infrastructure inquiry
Ahead of the session on Wednesday, the Committee is publishing
the written evidence submitted to the inquiry. The
attached submissions are under strict embargo until 00.01 on
Wednesday 12th June.
A total of 86 submissions are being published including those
from energy companies, sector bodies, local authorities and
academics. The written evidence touches on issues relating to the
energy mix, investor interest in UK infrastructure and the
policies needed to promote investment.
