Labour will provide free bus travel for under-25s – Andy McDonald responds to Friends of the Earth report

“Labour welcomes Friends of the Earth’s new briefings that examine how to cut CO2 emissions from transport. This is an urgent issue, where government must follow the evidence and be prepared to act decisively. 

“Labour is already committed to re-regulation of bus services, which Friends of the Earth identify as a necessary first step to improving public transport to give low-carbon alternatives to driving.

“Labour will provide free bus travel for under-25s where bus services are brought under public control, which would be a big step towards Friends of the Earth’s recommendation that free bus travel should be extended to all under-30s in order to create low-carbon travel habits.”
