16 per cent rise in rail complaints - Andy McDonald responds

Andy McDonald MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, commenting on the 16 per cent rise in rail passenger complaints, said:

“The Tories are failing to provide reliable or affordable rail services. Punctuality has nosedived as fares have soared at more than twice the rate of wages since 2010 so it is no surprise that passenger complaints have rocketed. Passengers are fed up of overpaying to travel on overcrowded and unreliable services.

It is clear that the privatised railway is broken and the travelling public want change. That is why Labour will take the railway into public ownership to improve services and hold fares down.”
