The UK is due to leave the European Union on 29 March 2019. At
present the House of Commons has not voted on, or agreed, the
Government’s Withdrawal Agreement with the European Union.
What will ‘No Deal’ mean for science and
innovation?
Building on the work we have already undertaken on Brexit in this
Parliament we intend to explore in January 2019 the Government
and its non-departmental public bodies’ preparedness for a
‘No-Deal’ Brexit.
We intend to hold an oral evidence session on 30 January 2019 on
‘No-Deal’ Brexit preparedness in relation to science and
innovation.
Ahead of us holding that evidence session we would welcome short
written contributions from the science and innovation community
and others on:
- what a No Deal Brexit
would mean for the science and innovation community; and
- the adequacy of what the
Government and its non-departmental public bodies are doing to
prepare for such an outcome.
We acknowledge that the window for individuals and organisations
to contribute to our work is short, but this is necessary given
the need to conduct this work quickly in response to events.
Submissions received by 23 January will influence the questions
we will ask; however, we will continue to accept submissions
after this date.
