New figures show that funding for Sure Start centres was cut by more than £100 million last year - Angela Rayner comment

Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on new figures which show that funding for Sure Start centres was cut by more than £100 million last year, said:

“Year after year the Tories have slashed funding for vital services that support some of the most disadvantaged children and families in our country.

“The chronic underfunding of these vital services by the Tories is leading to centres being lost across the country and the most vulnerable are paying the price.

“Labour will invest an additional £500 million in Sure Start to ensure that every family can access the support they need.”
