IPPR's 'State of the North' report - Jon Trickett responds

Jon Trickett MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, commenting on the ‘State of the North 2018’ report by IPPR North, said:

“Top-down, city-centric, ran from London, and not really working – the failure of the Northern Powerhouse shows just how little this government care about the North, which we now know has borne the brunt of austerity. 

“For the North to truly prosper we need the devolution of real power and significant resources.

“The report makes this abundantly clear, and Labour is the only party that both recognises the scale of the challenge and has the ambition to meet it head on.

“Our plan for government is aimed at nothing less than the abolition of regional inequality and the establishment of economic justice.”
