Tory Brexit mess punishes car industry say Lib Dems

Responding to figures published today which reveal new car sales in the UK fell by over 20% in September, forcing Nissan to warn of the "serious implications" of a no-deal Brexit, Liberal Democrat Brexit Spokesperson Tom Brake said:

“Once again experts from the British car industry are warning about the damage Brexit poses to jobs and the wider supply chain. With a 20% fall in sales last month, the Tory Brexit mess is punishing the car industry.

“With days left before a deal was meant to be struck, negotiations with the EU appear to have broken down in the middle of the road with no breakdown cover in sight.

“Only with an Exit from Brexit can we avoid this mess. That is why the people must have the final say on the deal, with the opportunity to remain in the EU.”
