Scottish Affairs Committee examines sector deals in oil and gas inquiry

Sector deals are partnerships between the Government and industry designed to boost productivity, innovation and skills. The Offshore Oil & Gas Sector Deal Proposal was submitted to the Government in March 2018 and included proposals for “Innovation Hubs” to support research into transformational technology, underwater engineering and decommissioning.

The session will explore how the Hubs would enable the industry to tackle its future challenges of maximising production in the face of declining reserves, strengthening the supply chain, increasing exports and adapting to a low carbon economy. 

The Committee will investigate the practicalities of the proposed sector deal: how it will be agreed, plans for implementation and the value each project will deliver.
