Jeremy Corbyn must explain why he Llaid wreath on Black September graves, says LAAS

Jeremy Corbyn has failed to credibly explain why, in 2014, he laid a wreath on the graves of four men widely believed to be members of the Black September terrorist group – a group that in 1972 engineered the Munich massacre in which 11 Israeli athletes and a West German policeman were brutally tortured and killed.

Although photographic evidence appears to show Mr Corbyn laying a wreath at the graves of the four Black September members, the Labour leader has claimed the wreath was for those killed in the bombing of the Palestine Liberation Organisation headquarters in Tunis on October 1, 1985 – who were commemorated in an entirely different ceremony.

Labour Against Antisemitism spokesperson Euan Philipps said:

“This controversy has dragged on because Jeremy Corbyn has failed to provide a satisfactory account of what took place on his visit to Tunisia in 2014.

If Mr Corbyn was there, as he claims, to commemorate people killed in an air strike in 1985, then why did he lay a wreath on the graves of four members of Black September?

Rather than getting on with attacking the Tories, the Labour leadership is failing to get to grips on what should be a straightforward question. It’s time Mr Corbyn gave a full and frank account of what happened, so we can all move on.”
