LAAS condemns Labour's NEC decision to support antisemitism guidelines

The Labour Party does not have right to tell any minority community what does and does not constitute discrimination against it. The proposed guidelines are an affront to the principles established by the Macpherson Report, and a betrayal of the Labour movements proud legacy of standing up for ethnic minorities against oppression.

‘The message sent by the NEC is loud and clear: the Labour movement has lost its moral compass, appears to have an institutional antisemitism issue and can no longer claim to represent the values of solidarity, justice and equality.

It is now up to those Labour MPs who supported the IHRA definition at Monday’s PLP meeting to examine their consciences and decide whether they can continue to support this Labour leadership.

We will be making a formal complaint to the Labour Party, examining our legal options, and speaking with the Equality and Human Rights Commission to challenge this decision further.’
