Responding to a report from the Chief Prisons Inspector Peter
Clarke on prison conditions, Home Affairs Spokesperson Ed Davey
said: “The prison conditions described in this report should
shame the Government. “Prisons should be centres of
rehabilitation, yet these inhumane conditions show prisons
are purely punitive. “The Conservatives cannot
