AM: Leader of the house, the Vale of
Glamorgan Council is proposing to reshape youth services
in my constituency, which could result in the loss of
up to 30 trained part-time youth workers. I
understand that there has been no direct consultation
with the young people, the Vale youth forum, or the
elected youth cabinet, in line with the United
Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. I also
understand that the South Wales Police commissioner
hasn't been consulted in terms of the impacts on young
people and prevention of crime. There has been
no formal consultation with the trade unions
representing the youth workers. I'd be grateful for a
statement on this matter.
: Can I just say that I'm not
aware of the circumstances surrounding that? I'd be very
grateful if you'd share the circumstances with me, and I
will explore what we can do once we have got the detail
from you.
