Justice select committee inquiry: Transforming Rehabilitation

The Justice Committee is holding its first evidence session for its Transforming Rehabilitation inquiry on Tuesday 30 January 2018 at 10.45am in Committee Room 6, Palace of Westminster.

Transforming Rehabilitation has attracted criticism since its implementation, including in reports by the National Audit Office, the Public Accounts Committee, and by HM Chief Inspectors of Probation and Prisons in reports on resettlement services for short term prisoners and for prisoners serving 12 months or more.

The Justice Committee is seeking in its inquiry to find out what needs to be done to improve the probation system.

This evidence session is expected to cover a number of issues including:

• ·       Staffing within the probation sector;
• ·       Organisations involved in delivering probation and how they are working together; and
• ·       Financing of probation.

Witnesses:

10.45am

• ·       Ian Lawrence, General Secretary, NAPO
• ·       Ben Priestley, National Officer, UNISON
