Education Committee Chair writes to Secretary of State for Education on Carillion

The Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP, Chair of the Education Committee, has written to Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP, Secretary of State for Education, for information on the impact of the collapse of Carillion on schools, colleges, and on Carillion Training Services apprenticeships.

The Committee has asked for the Department for Education to provide an analysis by constituency or local authority level of where the impact of Carillion’s collapse will be felt, in terms of services such as school catering and facilities management and apprenticeships.

The Committee has also asked for information on how the Government will safeguard the 1,400 apprenticeships operated by Carillion Training Services, along with an assessment of how many apprentices may be affected through the longer Carillion supply chain.
