Shadow Schools Minister , responding to The Education
Policy Institute’s new report
today, said:
"This report reveals that Britain has one of the most unequal
education systems in the developed world, with persistent
inequality in outcomes between both individual pupils and
communities as a whole.

“Under this Government, where you are born and who your
parents are have become more and more important in determining life
chances, and their failure to act leaves the most disadvantaged
children at risk of falling further behind.

“While this Government watches an entire Social Mobility Commission
resign in response to their failure and inaction, the next Labour
Government will create a National Education Service to help every
child succeed, as we transform Britain into a country for the many,
not the few.”
