David Davis travels to Washington to set out Post-Brexit vision

David Davis will travel to Washington today to set out the Government's vision for Britain after Brexit, and commit to playing a strong international role in tackling the social and economic challenges we face.

After a week focussed on the detail of the Brexit negotiations, he will deliver a speech at the US Chamber of Commerce which will address 'the kind of country the UK will be outside of the EU'.

David Davis will say:

"By working together with our closest friends and allies...

"We can tackle some of the greatest social and economic challenges we face.

"But the answer to that concern is not to turn inwards and become isolationist.

"And that is where a strong, outward looking United Kingdom can play an instrumental role."

On the details of the Brexit negotiations he will say:

"I am a determined optimist.

"Because I fundamentally believe that a good deal is in the interests of both the UK and the EU and the whole of the developed world."
