ATL comment on ETF launch of Advanced Teacher Status

Commenting on the launch of Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) for teachers and trainers by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) today, Dr Mary Bousted, general secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), said:  

“Advanced Teacher Status recognises FE college lecturers’ unique skills and knowledge and further embeds a professional ethos in the sector. It also acknowledges the professional status of staff working hard to help young people and adults develop new skills and improve their life chances.

“If ATS is to be successfully developed and implemented, the ETF must ensure it consults widely with those working in colleges, through the education unions. ATL looks forward to continuing working with ETF and other sector stakeholders on this project.”
