Baroness Jones: "Cuts to traffic police let careless/dangerous drivers get away with it"

Baroness Jones has become a Patron of RoadPeace and has written the Foreward to their new report "Lawless Roads". She is calling for the cuts to roads policing to be reversed and for specialist road crime investigation teams to be set up.

Jenny Jones said:

"Today’s report by RoadPeace shows the urgent need to reverse the cuts to traffic police, enforce the rules of the road and provide genuine justice for the victims of dangerous and careless driving. Cutting the number of traffic police by over a quarter was always going to lead to less enforcement of certain offences and an increased reliance on cameras. It seemed inevitable to me that an increasing number of drivers would be getting away with causing death and serious injury, as overstretched police failed to investigate or pursue people. Hit and runs have increased, while the victims struggle to find justice."
