The Tories are failing to put forward solutions to the prisons crisis they have created - Burgon

Richard Burgon MP, Shadow Justice Secretary, responding to today’s announcement that the National Offender Management Service will be replaced, said:

“The Tories are failing to put forward solutions to the prisons crisis they have created. Under their watch, violence is at record levels and reoffending rates remain persistently high. 

“But instead of setting out how she will bring about the reform our prisons desperately need, the Justice Secretary has simply opted for a name-change.

“Labour will continue to press the Government to deliver a prison and probation service that reforms offenders and keeps communities safe.”
