People across York and North Yorkshire are being invited to help
shape the future of transport in the region as the Mayor of York
and North Yorkshire, launches a 10-week public
consultation on his Local Transport Plan.
The Mayor's Local Transport Plan sets out a long-term vision for
improving transport across York and North Yorkshire, helping
people travel more easily, safely and sustainably.
Transport plays an important role in people's everyday lives,
connecting communities to jobs, education, healthcare, leisure
opportunities, family and friends. This plan will guide
future transport investment and priorities across the county and
be supported by a delivery plan setting out how improvements will
be made across all modes of transport, including walking,
cycling, buses, rail and roads.

"Transport in York and North Yorkshire hasn't been good enough
for too long, but I'm determined to change that. I want as many
people as possible to make sure our county's first long-term plan
sets out a pathway to a transport system that works for everyone
in York and North Yorkshire.
"My Local Transport Plan will guide future improvements across
all forms of transport, that's why it must be shaped by the
people who travel here every day.
"Make sure you take part in our consultation and share your
views, so your community is heard."
The consultation opens today (26th August) and will run for 10
weeks.
Residents, businesses, visitors and stakeholders can share their
view by completing an online survey at yorknorthyorks-ca.gov.uk/local-transport-plan-consultation/.
A programme of webinars and drop-in events will take place across
the region, providing opportunities to find out more about the
plan and share feedback. Further details will be shared on the
